Apple Discuss Board Succession Planning

July 26th, 2011

The Wall Street Journal has reported that discussions have taken place between Apple board members regarding a board succession plan following Steve Jobs' departure on medical leave this year.

Reports have also stated that the board has spoken with at least one head of a high-profile technology company.

Although the conversations were not aimed at recruiting a replacement for Steve Jobs, co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple, the informal meeting between just a select number of Apple Directors was put in place to look at the company's options moving forward.

Apple is one of the leading U.S. multinational companies who design and market consumer electrics and personal computers. In recent times they have become a leading brand with the iPhone mobiles and Apple Mac computers.

In Jobs' absence, Apple's chief operating officer, Tim Cook, has taken over day-to-day operations. Tim Cook could also become a key figure within future succession planning should Apple decide to make changes to the company structure.
