BP who reported quarterly profits of £3.2bn in July has said the company could struggle to fill the available skilled roles that have become available through the investment of £3bn in redeveloping two oil fields in the North Sea.

Oil and gas companies are expected to create some 15,000 new jobs in the UK over the next five years, however half of the companies say that attracting appropriately skilled staff was a major challenge.

Trevor Garlick, Head of BP's North Sea operations, said that the real issue is getting hold of the right people and the company could struggle to fill these roles.
