September 15th, 2011

Negotiations continue in the US between Google Inc and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. Google raised its bid by 33% to $12.5 billion (£7.9 billion) following two weeks of negotiations between the two companies.

On 1st August, Google originally offered $30 (£19) for every Motorola share, eventually paying $40 (£25) for large patent portfolio. This follows their failure in securing the Nortel patent auction to a consortium including Apple and Microsoft. An agreement has still to be reached.
